O álbum The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, da cantora Lauryn Hill, lançado em 1998, foi eleito como o melhor álbum de todos os tempos pela Apple Music. O disco, que levou o prêmio de Melhor Álbum do Ano no Grammy de 1999, ficou em primeiro lugar na lista com 100 exemplares.
Para a escolha, a Apple convidou uma lista de especialistas e de artistas como Maren Morris, Pharrell Williams, J Balvin, Charli XCX, Mark Hoppus, Honey Dijon e Nia Archives. Também participaram da seleção compositores, produtores e profissionais da indústria.
O ranking, que não tem relação com números de streams, foi sendo divulgado aos poucos, de dez em dez álbuns, desde o último dia 13. Algumas escolhas geraram polêmica, como o lançamento recente de SZA, o disco SOS, de 2022, e o álbum Kind of Blue, de Miles Davis, de 1959.
Outro ponto questionado foi o fato de nenhum dos discos escolhidos ser cantado em outra língua que não o inglês, ou por artistas de fora da Inglaterra ou Estados Unidos.
Apenas quatro nomes entraram na lista com com mais de uma obra: The Beatles, Radiohead, Prince e Beyoncé.
